Taking a stand for quality meat

For school, work or even for a weekend trip! We prepare snacks almost every day, so it can be easy to slip into a stereotypical pattern of one favourite version. If this scenario is familiar to you, then it's time to to try new and unusual recipes. This time, we're bringing you inspiration for snacks ruled by meat!
Immortal sandwiches
When you say snack, most of us think of a sandwich. The basis of a perfect sandwich is good quality bread, a bun or baguette. For example, we recommend reaching for Bread 33 from Eska in Karlin or bread from the U Kalendů bakery. And then you can start layering.
No sandwich should be without a suitable spread. The starting point is usually a soft cheese, to which you can add spices, fresh herbs, fresh vegetables and fruit or a little crème fraîche. At the same time, the filling should contain something sour such as pickles, sauerkraut or kimchi. And then it's on to the the main star, in this case the meat.
A favourite ingredient is dried meatsuch as lonza, which tastes fantastic when combined with soft cheese and rocket. This sandwich can be made with light bread or Italian focaccia.
Try:
Sandwich architecture
Professionals follow a few principles that keep the sandwich from getting soggy and make it easier to eat:
- Fattier spreads such as butter, mayonnaise, remoulade or mustard, take over the role of flavouring, but also act as a natural protection against sogginess, which can be caused by fresh tomatoes or the juices from roast meat. That's why it's important to coat both pieces of bread!
- Slippery ingredients such as mayonnaise or ham, should not be stacked on top of each other so that they do not fall out after the first bite. For the same reason, sliced meat is not put on top of vegetables and salad, but in the bottom layers.
- Warm ingredients should cool before preparing a cold sandwich so as not to destroy the crisp texture of fresh vegetables (e.g. iceberg lettuce) or bread.
Baked!
With autumn comes the craving for warm snacks. A safe bet is a toasted sandwichand you can play around with the filling to your heart's content. In any case, we recommend that you don't skimp on the cheese.
You can also combine several types of cheese such as sweeter Emmental, savoury Gouda and Maasdamer or comté, but also aromatic taleggio and gorgonzola, gruyère or hard goat's cheese. Don't forget the meaty component. Try dried ham of roast pork.
Prepare:
- Croque monsieur,
- A baked sandwich with tomato sauceto which you can add a few slices of Prague ham.
Jerky: an energy bomb in your pocket
Don't have time to prepare a snack but don't want to starve? In that case go for jerky, i.e. dried meat which is perfectly lean and free of fat cover, fat and sinew.
Long live the spreads
Go back to your school days and remember the snacks your mother used to make for you. We guess that you often found the bread in the paper napkin in need of liver pate or sausage spread. If you want to remind yourself of this nostalgic taste, reach for ready-made spreads made from quality ingredients offered by the Naše maso butcher shop or its e-shop.
