Great food at a reasonable price: These Czech establishments have been awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand

January 7, 2026
Nine Czech restaurants have been awarded a Michelin star, and nine Czech restaurants have earned the Michelin Bib Gourmand award. Here's where to find them, and why should you visit.

A restaurant and bakery on the right bank of the Vltava

Minimalistický interiér restaurace s prosvětlenými okny a kontrastní tmavou dřevěnou obložkou.
On the right bank of the Vltava River, we cook without frills, bake crispy sourdough bread, and serve honestly treated beer. We process whole animals, from snout to tail—under the watchful eye of chef Honza Všetečka. The kitchen meets the bakery here: we fry sourdough, recycle yesterday's bread, and aren't afraid to experiment. We've earned a Bib Gourmand award from the Michelin inspectors.
Come and taste!

Prague restaurants that have Bib Gourmand:

Alma

A restaurant, bar, café and wine bar in one. Alma's cuisine under the direction of Petr Žídek is based on respect for raw ingredients, which they source from farmers who share the same values. Dairy products from Krasolesí and Struhy Farm, vegetables from Hanka Součková, Hala 22 and Sluneční farm in Vykáň, meat from Amaso, fish from Chabrybarna and vinegars from Utopia Vinegars. Bread is baked by sister company Kro Bakery, herbs and other wild ingredients are collected by the team from the fields, forests and meadows with Tomas Reisinger.

U Kalendů

At U Kalendů, they cook honest Prague food, bake artisan sourdough and tap carefully treated Pilsner beer. The kitchen team is led by chef Honza Všetečka, the bakery by chef Sláva Grigorik. "I cook the food I grew up on. But when creating the menu, I also take into account what has always been cooked in Podskalí. For example, we have preserved the Podskalské grundle and we know that U Kalendů used to serve tripe soup, so tripe is also on the menu," Všetečka explains the concept.

U Matěje

The first restaurant of the leading Czech chef Jan Punčochář focuses on traditional Austro-Hungarian cuisine. "When I first walked into the old U Matěje pub, it was immediately clear to me that there was nothing else to do here but to continue the tradition of the Czech inn. I knew exactly that honest Czech, if you want Austro-Hungarian, cuisine would be the only possible choice," says the chef.

Taste honest sauces, freshwater fish, and also dishes made from pearl barley or lentils. The menu changes several times a year according to seasonal ingredients, but the evergreens remain - carp fries with dill mayonnaise and coleslaw, tripe soup, veal with mushroom-dill sauce or buns with rum sauce.
